Port Llast

Port Llast is a strategic coastal settlement located roughly halfway up the Sword Coast, positioned along the High Road north of the city of Neverwinter. Historically acting as a crucial transit point for travelers, merchants, and adventurers journeying toward the frozen reaches of Icewind Dale, the port has recently become a major battlefield and a key flashpoint in the war between Neverwinter and Luskan.

The Fall of the Port

During the outbreak of open hostilities, Port Llast fell to the aggressive forces of Luskan, the “City of Sails.” The occupation of Port Llast was a calculated maneuver by the military leadership of Luskan. By capturing this vital coastal node, the Luskan occupiers successfully severed the primary northern land route from Neverwinter, establishing a heavily fortified front line.

Strategic Dilemma on the Road North

With Port Llast under enemy occupation, the path north has become exceptionally perilous. Those attempting to reach the far north—such as champions seeking to retrieve the White Dragon Mask from the frozen tomb of Hrothgar by the shores of Lac Dinneshere—are faced with a difficult strategic choice:

Active Resistance

Despite the severe dangers of the occupied port, some members of the defense of Neverwinter, including the Zhentarim-trained rogue Erëvyn Sehahine, have championed a direct assault on the territory. Rather than sneaking through the woods, these defenders advocate for fighting through the trenches of Port Llast on principle. Such an action would not only clear a path to the north but would also provide desperate, much-needed military relief to the embattled Council of Neverwinter, earning their gratitude in the broader conflict against Luskan’s armies.
